I love the idea of a guided journal. I buy one about every 18 months thinking it will stick. I thought I had vetted my last investment pretty well, but as I sat to find an inspiring prompt this morning, I realized just reading the prompts was bringing me down: What are secrets about yourself that you don’t want to share with others, When have you compromised yourself for the benefit of others, What dreams have you had growing up and which ones are still relevant.
This reflection may be fun, and depending on the responses, might be inspiring and beneficial for some. For me, my thoughts and feelings are steeply positively correlated, with a nearly perfect R2. So I shut that journal before it ruined my day and come up with more beneficial prompts:
· What are 30 things you love about yourself?
· What would your friends and family say are your best attributes?
· What are you looking forward to today?
· What was a recent win for you?
· Explain situations where being an HSP (highly sensitive person) has been a benefit.
· Name a time when you have used your empathy strength.
· What do you do really well?
· What is your favorite smell and why?
· Where is your favorite place to be?
· Write down three things you are grateful for today and why?
· What makes you unique?
· What is a recent act of kindness you witnessed or experienced?
· Write about your favorite self-care practices and how they contribute to your overall well-being.
· Find an inspiring quote or affirmation that resonates with you. Write about how it empowers you.
· Recall a recent moment of pure joy or happiness.
· Write about your dreams and aspirations. Describe the steps you are taking to achieve them.
· List five things that make you smile or bring you happiness.
Remember, journaling is a personal and introspective practice, so feel free to adapt these prompts to suit your own preferences and needs.
